The Picosecond Delayer is a module that generates output pulses with adjustable delay and duration, triggered by either the rising or falling edge of the input signal. Made entirely from solid-state components, the instrument offers consistent precision, low time jitter, and stability over a wide range of temperatures. It provides enhanced flexibility and superior performance compared to delay lines based on coaxial cables.
The Picosecond Delayer is a module capable of generating output pulses (both NIM and TTL) with a user-selectable delay and output pulse duration, triggered by either the rising or falling edge of an input signal. It can also function as a frequency divider with a selectable integer value ranging from 1 to 999. This instrument, based on solid-state components, offers best-in-class precision, time jitter, and stability over a wide temperature range, surpassing the performance of coaxial cable-based delay lines.
The Picosecond Delayer features a 50 ns nominal full-scale range with 10 ps resolution, while the output pulse duration is user-adjustable from 1 ns to 250 ns, with nominal steps of 3.3 ns. The excellent integral non-linearity error ranges between +50 ps and -100 ps over the full-scale and operating temperature range. This excellent performance makes the Picosecond Delayer the perfect choice for experimental setups requiring high-accuracy signal delay with stable characteristics over a broad range of delays and temperatures. The low random jitter also makes it highly suitable for Time-Correlated Single-Photon Counting applications.
The Picosecond Delayer can be controlled via its embedded keypad and display or remotely through a USB connection, using a simple software interface. The device connects via USB, emulating a Virtual COM port on the host computer. Commands can be sent as ASCII strings over this port, using any software that supports serial communication.
