TYCHE Quantum Random Number Generator is based on the intrinsic statistical behavior of a quantum detector that is ignited by electron-hole pair generation within a semiconductor, following a Poisson distribution. Such triggering is then used to extract random numbers by means of MPD proprietary method.
Available with bitrate of 16, 32, 64, 128 and 180 Mbps, its stream is already unbiased and ready to be used with no other whitening process.
Many applications, such as cryptography and remote authentication, require high quality random number streams at high speed. Available pseudo-random generators can only provide numbers that appears to be random, but are instead truly deterministic.
Optical Quantum Random Number Generators are a special class of true random data sources, which were successfully applied to cryptography, Monte Carlo numerical simulations and many other fields of mathematics, physics and finance. This class of generators exploits the intrinsic randomness of photonic quantum processes. The new Quantum Random Number generator by MPD is based on the intrinsic statistical behaviour of a quantum detector that is ignited by electron-hole pair generation within a semiconductor, following a Poisson distribution. Such triggering are then used to extract random numbers by means of our proprietary method.
The system overcomes the limitations of the commonly used optical quantum random number generator and is available in three different speed-grades: 16, 32, 64, 128 and 180 Mbps stream output that is already unbiased and ready to be used with no other whitening process. The device has been checked against standard statistical test suites (including NIST, Dieharder and TestU01 Test Suite) and more stringent correlation and bias tests with data streams up to 32 Gbit to prove the quality of the random data generation process.
The USB compact module is Plug & Play and easy to use, drawing its supply from the USB bus. Random bits are delivered either on-demand through coaxial output and trigger input or digitally through USB connection.
DLLs are available for easy integration of the QRN in customer’s experimental setup or for adjusting module parameters according to user needs.
